Jim Olson has over 38 years of Real Estate experience in California, Oregon, Washington and Montana and brings a broad range of expertise in all aspects of real estate development to OliverMcMillan.
A California native, Jim grew up in Pasadena and graduated from San Diego State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and became a licensed Certified Public Account. He began his career at Arthur Young & Company and later went on to join Torrey Enterprises as CFO/Senior Vice President where he was involved in land acquisitions, financing, developing, marketing and management of real estate.
In 1974, Jim became a commercial real estate broker and specialized in land and investment sales and office leasing where he earned the honor of Top Investment Salesman in 1984, 1985 & 1986. He has known principals Dene Oliver and Jim McMillan both personally and professionally since OliverMcMillan’s inception, when he sold OliverMcMillan its first piece of office land and leased the building known as Park Plaza.
Jim and his family moved to Bend, Oregon in 1989 where he started Westland Properties, a real estate development company. Among his many ventures, he developed Elkhorn Estates, a 262 home subdivision in Bend, renovated the historic 1929 Baker Hotel listed on the national register in Eastern Oregon and acquired prime residential land in Bellingham, Washington for future development.
Jim has been active in various organizations in San Diego including the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Hospital Foundation, Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Family Centers and Fundraising Chairman for the Northwest Family YMCA. While in Oregon, Jim served on the Central Oregon Community College Foundation Board and supported several philanthropic projects.
