First Look: Hopdoddy at River Oaks District
Hopdoddy Burger Bar hasn't even opened its doors to the public yet (that'll happen May 30), but the Austin-based restaurant brand is already looking for a second Houston location.
No location has been set but it looks like Hopdoddy is working hard to be Houston's favorite burger joint.
"Houston has always been on the founders' minds," said CB Gersch, vice president of operations for Hopdoddy. "We've just been looking for the perfect location to plant our flag."
Hopdoddy's staked claim to Houston at River Oaks District, 4444 Westheimer. It's the second major restaurant to open at the luxury retail/residential/restaurant development after Toulouse Café and Bar.
In look and feel it resembles other Hopdoddy stores in Texas, Arizona, Colorado and California. And the menu's the same, too: a judicious lineup of burgers, fries, salads and shakes. Where Hopdoddy wants to distinguish itself is in its commitment to quality and freshness. The restaurant makes nearly everything in-house: house-made bread (it bakes three types),house-churned ice cream; house-made dressings and sauces; hand-cut fries; it even makes its own triple sec for margaritas. It grinds its own meat at each location and offers these burger patties: chuck, American kobe, chicken, turkey, lamb and vegetarian. (The restaurant uses beef that comes from humanely raised cows who are never given growth hormones or antibiotics.) Relationships were established with local farmers to ensure that the freshest produce is coming into the store.
