Luxury living: High-end residences prove a popular choice
Luxury living has become an in-demand lifestyle, evident by new construction and recently opened properties.
"As the city has matured and experienced recent high-rise buildings, both condominium and luxury apartments, I believe residents in Houston have a better awareness of (the benefits of) high-rise living," said Derek Darnell, president, Pelican Builders Inc.
Many people are looking for services, security and a low-maintenance lifestyle, all of which are found in luxury high-rise and mid-rise living. Today, there are at least a dozen choices in and around River Oaks, and a number of new properties under construction.
"The designation of luxury for a high-rise is determined by three main points, the services offered, price point and location. In Houston, a luxury high-rise starts around $500,000," said Paige Martin, a Realtor with Keller Williams.
For example, The Wilshire at River Oaks District, by Pelican Builders Inc., is a 17-story luxury high-rise with 96 residences. Every aspect of its architecture, design and modern efficiencies simplifies residents' lives while rewarding them with luxury living: two guest suites, 24-hour staffed concierge desk, valet parking, swimming pool with sun shelf, poolside covered outdoor pavilion and cabanas, fitness room, lounge, catering kitchen, and a private meeting/dining room.
"The top amenities I believe residents enjoy most at The Wilshire are the building staff who receive packages, check residents' homes for something while they are away, and the lock-and-leave lifestyle. Most of all ... the River Oaks District is just steps away, so there are many conveniences close by," Darnell said.
At the 14-acre River Oaks District is Grey House, a luxury apartment-home property at 4444 Westheimer developed by OliverMcMillan.
"The Grey House is designed like a New York residential complex, where everything you need is in your neighborhood, so one does not have to drive everywhere. There are fabulous stores, a theater; everything one needs," said Colin Moussa, director of marketing for River Oaks District.
Grey House's 279 luxury residences come in a variety of floor plans for one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging from 900 to 1,700 square feet to meet a variety of residents' needs.
Interior features include stainless-steel appliances and quartz countertops, a terrace in select units for indoor/outdoor entertaining, engineered wood and tile flooring throughout, and double-pane windows, among others. Iconic designers, eateries, elite fitness and entertainment are nearby.
Residents are able to enjoy a workout, or practice yoga in the fitness and yoga rooms. There is also a screening room with plush seating, and swimmers can partake in two lap pools. Other amenities include a conference room to meet clients, and concierge.
Another choice for homeowners seeking luxury living is The Royalton at River Oaks on Allen Parkway, a high-rise with 33 floors, 253 luxury condos and a five-level parking garage.
Residents can take advantage of an infinity-edge pool, 24-hour state-of-the-art health facility, 24/7 security and service, including 24/7 valet and service runners. Following hotel-like services, Royalton residents can seek assistance with theater tickets, transportation, flower arrangements and many more services through the concierge.
This ups the luxury and convenience factors - with a central location to enjoy everything Houston has to offer.
