River Oaks District Restaurants Set Opening Dates
Six new restaurants will open in the high-end River Oaks District this spring.
Restaurants range from upscale French cafes to classic burger joints, with the first openings slated for later this month. Here's what Houstonians can expect:
March 23 — Toulouse Cafe and Bar: The previously announced Parisian Cafewill offer a seasonal menu, made-from-scratch desserts and an expansive wine list. The restaurant will offer lunch and dinner, Mondays through Fridays, with brunch on the weekends.
Mid-April — Taverna: A farm-to-table Italian restaurant that already has locations in Austin, Dallas and Forth Worth. Taverna focuses on rustic Italian dishes made with seasonal ingredients.
Late spring: Three other restaurants are slated to open later this spring, though specific dates have not been announced. Le Colonial, an upscale French-Vietnamese restaurant, will open a 100-seat dining room. The previously announced Steak 48 restaurant is also slated to open this spring at a luxury, two-story space. Meanwhile, The Porch, a New American restaurant, will also open with a menu of homestyle comfort foods.
Austin-based burger joint Hopdoddy has pushed back the opening date for its highly anticipated first Houston location, which also will be in the River Oaks District. Now, it also is expected to open in the late spring. The eatery, which uses locally sourced ingredients, will serve classic and more creative burgers, as well as salads, shakes, cocktails, wine and craft beer.
The River Oaks District opened at 4444 Westheimer Road last fall. The luxury shopping center was at the time 85 percent leased, and 95 percent of those retailers were new to Houston.
Since opening, it has announced a host of other new retail and dining tenants. The mixed-use project was developed by San Diego, California-based Oliver McMillan and includes retail, office and living space.
