Where to Brunch: Dolce Italian in Buckhead Atlanta
The Spot: Dolce Italian
The Gist: Mid-century design meets modern Italian style at this swanky Buckhead kitchen, an Atlanta outpost of the award-winning Miami original. The warm wood and cool marble interiors pair with a large wraparound terrace, tailor-made for a view of the shoppers below on the streets of the Buckhead Atlanta development. Weekend brunch (both Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 3 PM) launched in early November.
Eat This: Sausage, egg and broccollini pizza ($17) provides a bridge between Italian dinner and American brunch traditions, while a dish of poached eggs served over grits and bolognese gravy ($12) shows there’s not too much different about the Old Country and the New South.
Drink This: The Margarita Italiana ($13) is a traditional margarita made with tequila and lime, but that incorporates sweet agave syrup, tart grapefruit liqueur and bitter Aperol.
Know Before You Go: Looking forward to Dolce’s sister restaurant, American Cut, opening soon? You’re going to have to wait. Originally scheduled to open earlier this year, the Marc Forgione-helmed steakhouse has been put on hold, and may (or may not) open in summer of 2016.
