Glamorous Crowd at The Menil Celebrate Tom Ford
A parade of glamorous ones in Tom Ford attire strolled into the Menil Collection for an exclusive dinner celebrating the opening of the new Tom Ford flagship store in the River Oaks District.
Becca Cason Thrash, who hosted the chic, candlelight affair, floated through the crowd in a sleek, black gown that Ford designed for her. Others were equally elegant. OliverMcMillan CEO Dene Oliver, who developed the recently opened River Oaks District, looked dashing in Tom Ford eyewear, whileDuyen Huynh sparkled in a Ford sequin mini dress.
Thrash's party, in which more than 100 guests paid $1,000 each, not only celebrated the city's first Tom Ford store and gave an excuse for guests to break out their Tom Ford best, but it also raised more than $100,000 for the Menil.
Tom Ford International chairman Domenico de Sole and wife Eleanore were honored guests. Ford was in London directing his movie, "Nocturnal Animals," starring Amy Adams.
Ford, a Dallas native, has promised a Houston visit soon, de Sole said.
"When Tom and I started this journey nine years ago, Tom said we are going to be the first luxury brand for the 21st century," de Sole told the guests. "Tonight, we really feel like we have accomplished what we set out to do."
The dinner was held in the Renzo Piano area with a stunning table that ran almost the length of the building and featured a first course by PAX Americana, a second course by Helen Greek Food and Wine and dessert by Bistro Menil, complete with Titos Vodka and Dom Perignon.
Guests included: Karen and Denis Boulle (in from Dallas for their jewelry boutique, de Boulle, which will have a Patek Philippe shop-in-shop when it opens at River Oaks District on Nov. 2), Menil Board Chairman Janet Hobby, Menil DirectorJosef Helfenstein and wife Dorothee, Jana and Richard Fant, Annie Amante with Cliff Reckling, Bevin and Dan Dubrowski, Sara Dodd and Greg Fourticq, Lucinda and Javier Loya, Courtney and Bo Hopson, Laura and Evan Greenberg, Luca Somoza,Reggie and Lee Smith, Carmina and Rafael Chavez, George Lancaster and Michael Landrum, Libby Cagle and Lauren Taft, Bradley Radoff, Diane Lokey Farb and Janet Gurwitch.
