First River Oaks District Store to Open Next Month
The first high-end retailer in River Oaks District is set to open its doors in September, nearly one month earlier than the majority of stores in the long-awaited luxury retail center on Westheimer Road.
With more than 6,000 square feet in the River Oaks District, jeweler Cartierplans to open its storefront on Sept. 3, CultureMap reported.
Other luxury stores in the center that were first announced last May aren't slated to set up shop until Oct. 1.
The Parisian company's new store will feature limestone floors, chandeliers and private viewing rooms. Paris-based Bruno Moinard designed the store and San Fransisco-based Gensler, which is Houston's largest architecture firm, served as the architect, CultureMap reported.
Construction at the River Oaks district began in the spring.
“It’s not a mall. It’s not a shopping center. It’s a destination. Houston is now an 'it' city," Dene Oliver, CEO of OliverMcMillan said about the project.
The development features 252,000 square feet of high-end shops, restaurants and entertainment along with 92,000 square feet of office space and 279 apartment units.
The space is 72 percent leased and will host other tenants like Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, a New York-based luxury fitness club Equinox and a 560-seat luxury movie theater.
Houston-based wealth management firm U.S. Capital Advisors LLC will relocate its main Houston office to occupy the top one and a half floors of the office space and take signage rights on the Westheimer-fronting building. The company will move into its new space in November.
