Houston Retail Muscles Up at River Oaks District Shopping Complex
If there is any lingering doubt that Houston has surpassed Chicago to become the third largest city in the country (behind New York and LA)- we now have the retail clout to prove it thanks to the forthcoming River Oaks Districtshopping development scheduled to open next year. This week Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Chopard, Kiton, Giuseppe Zanotti and Intermix (among others) announced they will join the ranks of fellow badge brands- Tom Ford, Hermès, Dior and Cartier who have already committed to a presence there.
And it’s not just killer retail moving in. The new center will be home to iPic Theaters, where movie-goers can nosh and cocktail in style while watching a flick in luxurious, oversized plush seats. The best bods in Houston will also rejoice to know that plans are underway for a grand two-story abode for Equinox- the famed singles club fronting as an upscale gym and spa.
Talking to friend and future tenant, Kari Gonzalez (boutique director at Cartier) at a holiday luncheon last week, the restaurants will not disappoint either. Le Colonial is already on board and the rumor about Le Bilbouquetpersists. Thank goodness there will be 279 residential apartments on site too as some of us may never leave.
