Atlanta Business Chronicle
Atlanta Business Chronicle has learned of three more retailers headed for Buckhead Atlanta. L’Occitane, Moncler and Canali plan to open at the 8-acre mixed-use project at Peachtree, Pharr and West Paces Ferry roads. Developer OliverMcMillan recently filed plans in Atlanta. All three brands have been sold in local department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue andNeiman Marcus, but now are opening stand-alone boutiques. It marks a shift in the retail landscape. Some traditional mall retailers are seeking alternative, street-level locations to boost their brands and revenues. Beauty shop L’Occitane en Provence will take about 2,000 square feet along Buckhead Avenue — its first street-level store in Georgia. The international retailer of body, face and home products today has boutiques atHartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and at Perimeter Mall. It previously had a store at Lenox Square. It also sells its products at department stores such as Nordstorm, and at Sephora. Luxury retailer Moncler, well known for its ski-inspired puffy jackets, plans to take just under 2,000 square feet along Bolling Way. The Milan, Italy-based brand has just six stores in the U.S. today. Upscale Italian menswear store Canali also plans a roughly 2,000-square-foot store along Buckhead Avenue. Canali has just eight boutiques today in the United States. “We’re proud of the one-of-a-kind destination we’re creating, and particularly of the variety of shops and restaurants we’re bringing to Atlanta,” Hunter Richardson, managing director of development for Buckhead Atlanta, told Atlanta Business Chronicle in a statement. In total, there will be 50 to 60 tenants, say people familiar with the plans. The first tenants (likely seven restaurants) will begin opening this July.
