Buckhead Atlanta Gets The Scoop
Atlanta Business Chronicle
By Douglas Sams Buckhead Atlanta gets the scoop. Buckhead Atlanta has attracted another first-to-market retailer. Fashion boutique Scoop NYC will take a spot off Buckhead Avenue at the 8-acre redevelopment of a former bar district in Buckhead. A permit was filed in Atlanta this week. It joins a list of new concepts, including cashmere maker Brunello Cucinelli and luxury Italian label Etro, that developer OliverMcMillan has landed for the massive mixed-use project. “Scoop NYC is a fine example of a new-to-market retailer that will be opening at Buckhead Atlanta,” Hunter Richardson, managing director of development for Buckhead Atlanta, told Atlanta Business Chronicle in a statement. “We are building a beautiful store for Scoop, where shoppers will find a variety of luxury and contemporary labels.” Scoop NYC sells clothes and accessories for men and women.
It calls itself a “one-stop shopping experience of expertly curated styles: luxury, designer and contemporary ready-to-wear.” Its many labels include Diane Von Furstenberg, Jimmy Choo, Zac Posen, Alice + Olivia, Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Taylor. The first Scoop NYC opened in the SoHo area of New York City in 1996. About three years ago the $1 billion project, once known as Streets of Buckhead, was an eyesore — stalled amid the deep recession. OliverMcMillan acquired the project in 2011 and brought it back to life.
